Con Man Colton Moore
Separating reality from rhetoric in the world of Georgia's Colton Moore. #ConManColton
Con Man:
Noun: An individual who deceives others by gaining their trust and convincing them of falsehoods. Short for confidence man.
Such a description aptly fits Georgia State Senator Colton Moore of northwest Georgia’s 53rd district. His recent con, his unsupported claims and untruths have captured the attention of both national and statewide media, but they are merely the tip of the iceberg. I've chronicled his actions for some time now. Let's take a closer look. Note: Lots of links ahead.
A year ago, Moore audaciously requested Governor Kemp to appoint him to the Georgia National Guard, touting his desire to "lead troops" at the border. What's preposterous about this proposition is his utter lack of military training or experience. If he were genuine in his intent, he could have enlisted and rightfully earned a position of leadership. Not to mention, Governor Kemp was already allocating resources for border security and combating illegal immigration.
Moore's 2020 attempt to oust the revered Georgia State Senate veteran, Jeff Mullis, failed spectacularly. Yet, upon Mullis' retirement, Moore exploited voter apprehensions by evading key questions and providing no evidence for his wild assertions during his 2022 campaign. He barely scraped through to victory.
Has he since served his district diligently? Has he fostered the necessary legislative ties to address his constituents' genuine concerns? It's almost as implausible as imagining a fresh-faced Moore rightfully leading in a military capacity.
Recently, the rise in gang-related crimes, particularly in regions outside Atlanta and involving minors, has been alarming. Governor Kemp championed a bill to tackle this issue, which was passed with overwhelming support. However, Moore was a lonely dissenter standing with the leftwing.
Gov. Kemp Takes a Stand Against Gangs; Sen Moore Opposes
In the summer of 1993, Atlanta was rocked by two heinous crimes committed by a little-known gang called Doom. The gang was responsible for the brutal torture and murder of two young girls who had fallen into the gang's clutches at an early age. Their tragic stories, and those of the nine young people who participated in their killings, are a stark remin…
His votes as senator, sadly, aligns with his previous votes as representative for a disregard of the law and in line with those who target law enforcement officers with violence. He voted against the police protection act and voted against a bill which restored ankle bracelets for the most dangerous sex offenders.

Currently, is Moore benefitting or hindering his district? The consensus is clear: he's detrimental. Conversations with north Georgians reveal their primary concerns center around kitchen table issues like property taxes and healthcare. Yet, Moore prioritizes self-promotion over legislative work. When schools in his district grappled with a lead contamination crisis, Moore was either unreachable or indifferent. Fortunately, local and state officials responded appropriately, mitigating the potential fallout from Moore's negligent indifference.
Erick Erickson's recent article offers an account of Moore's latest con and ongoing disregard for his district. Here's the crux: Even if we unanimously denounce the actions in Fulton County, oppose the left, and support former president Trump, Moore is well aware he lacks the votes for a special session. He recognizes that even with the votes, the legislature can't achieve what he proposes. It's deceit, plainly motivated by self-interest and it is perilous in nature. His strategy exploits public sentiment—in dangerous fashion—to add campaign funds for his next scheme.
As scrutiny on Colton Moore sharpens, I encourage you to examine previous articles and videos detailing his cons and schemes. This isn't his debut in deception, and undoubtedly, it won't be his curtain call. Thankfully, North Georgia's voters know him now better than ever and see through his act and will surely reveal the truth in the next election. Remember, his previous victory was by the thinnest margin.
Con Man Colton will be forgotten. The dedication and integrity of the general assembly members, whom Moore disparages, combined with Governor Kemp's genuine and true leadership, will prevail. Ultimately, that triumph serves justice and the rule of law. And in the end, that will be better for Georgia and for former President Trump.
